Metrics Overview

Understand how Promptmonitor measures your brand’s visibility across AI platforms

Promptmonitor tracks key metrics to help you understand your brand's visibility across AI platforms.

Visibility Score

Your overall Visibility Score is a composite metric that measures how consistently your brand appears in AI responses.

How is Visibility Score Calculated?

The Visibility Score combines two factors:

Formula:

 Visibility Score = (Presence Rate × 0.8) + (Cross-Model Consistency × 0.2)

Components

Presence Rate (80% weight)

  • Percentage of AI responses that mention your brand

  • Calculation: (Responses with brand / Total responses) × 100

  • Example: If 75 out of 100 responses mention your brand, your presence rate is 75%

Cross-Model Consistency (20% weight)

  • Percentage of unique AI models that mentioned your brand

  • Calculation: (Models with brand / Total models tracked) × 100

  • Example: If your brand appears in responses from 3 out of 4 AI models, your consistency is 75%

Why These Weights?

  • Presence Rate (80%) is weighted higher because frequent visibility is the primary goal

  • Cross-Model Consistency (20%) ensures your brand is not just visible on one platform but across multiple AI models

Score Range

  • 0-100: Your Visibility Score is capped at 100

  • Higher is better: A score of 85+ indicates strong AI visibility

  • Track over time: The Visibility Score chart shows how your visibility changes over time

  2. Calculates average visibility score for each competitor

  3. Ranks competitors by visibility (highest to lowest)

  4. Displays the top 10 competitors

Why It's Useful

  • Understand competition: See which brands you’re compared against

  • Benchmark performance: Compare your visibility score to competitors

  • Identify threats: High-visibility competitors may be replacing your brand in AI responses

How often are metrics updated?

Metrics are updated daily.

Why do metrics fluctuate?

AI responses are not fixed like search engine rankings. They can vary between prompts over time and are often personalized. What matters is quantitative data to understand your position (whether your brand is being mentioned consistently or not). With daily refreshes providing multiple responses per month, you can get a reliable picture of your brand's AI visibility.

Why don't you track position?

AI responses typically mention only a few brands, and their order can change frequently. What matters most is whether your brand is mentioned at all, not its position within the response.
